Abstract

|
Keloid is called as a kind of benign tumor which results from overproduction and deposition of collagen during the wound healing process. And the causes of keloid has not been identified yet despite of many proposed theories.
There are many problems in its treatment, because the keloid tends to recur after excision, and to persist at the site of injury. So, many proposed methods of treatment have their limitation of control.
Now authors propose a new way of treatment for a large keloid. We used tissue expander to expand the normal tissue surrounding the keloid, and excised it followed by postoperative irradiation therapy for I case. It showed relatively good result without recurrence for one year.
